KMCH is fully equipped to handle all types of ear nose throat and head & neck disorders. For example, nasal polyps occur frequently and are fleshy growths within the sinuses and nose that cause nasal block, headache and considerable distress. Advanced instruments such as Karl Storz endoscope, Magnum IV microdebrider and high definition monitors are available for safe and thorough removal of these polyps. Similarly, Medtronic high speed drill system and cutting edge Carl Zeiss operating microscopes are available for micro-ear surgery. CO2 laser system is also available for throat surgery and transoral resection of malignancy.
Advanced surgical procedures are undertaken for benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck. Tumors of the mouth, throat, voice box, nasal cavity, neck, thyroid and parathyroid are routinely managed. Advanced open resections and minimally invasive procedures are both performed. The division works in close collaboration with related specialties such as plastic surgery for free tissue reconstruction of complex defects, neurosurgery for open craniofacial resection and other skull base procedures, and thoracic surgery for mediastinal dissections. These facilities, expertise and close inter-specialty collaborations ensure that the patient gets the best possible outcome with minimal or no side-efects. Further, endoscopic surgery for sinusitis and skull base neoplasms, and endoscopic orbital and optic nerve decompressions are also done. The division has supporting staff to provide speech and swallowing therapy, nutritional support, respiratory care, physiotherapy and social support.
